The Waterford Alcohol & Drug Education Coalition (WADE) will be holding its third annual Community Celebration for Youth at 6 p.m. on March 28.
Held in the Clark Lane Middle School field house, the event will feature personalities from WZXM 93.7 FM, a basketball game between the Waterford Police Department and the fire companies, as well as several informational events.
Kate Stephenson, program coordinator for Waterford Youth Services Bureau, said a "town hall meeting" will take place at halftime during the basketball game.
"We want to get the message out that we want to create a healthy community," she said.
The night is made possible due to state grants aimed at increasing awareness of alcohol abuse.
Also, the night will serve as the local kickoff to Alcohol Awareness Month.
Waterford is just one of several towns around the country to participate in national Underage Drinking Prevention: Town Hall meetings.
"We see this as an opportunity to offer youth and families in attendance the opportunity to shout out their personal messages about
underage drinking," said Sue Radway, director of WYSB. "This is a great way for families to learn more about the issues, cheer on our community representatives, and get more information about healthy activities offered for youth and families."

Police Chief Murray Pendleton announced last week mooring permit applications and renewals are now available. Permit renewal forms have been mailed out.
Waterfront property owners pay $25 and non-waterfont property owners pay $50.
Pendleton, who is also the harbor master, said mooring buoys must be white with a visible horizontal blue band around the middle.
New permit applications will be reviewed during April and May.
