Police Incident Report: Sept. 17 to 23

The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

 

 

Chester

 

Wednesday, Sept. 17 to Tuesday, Sept. 23

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

 

Deep River

 

Wednesday, Sept. 17

• A 33-year-old Colchester man was arrested at 1:08 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and improper parking. The accused was parked on the side of the road and admitted to the arresting trooper that he had consumed 10 to 12 beers. He was held on a $500 surety bond and arraigned in court later that morning.

• A suspicious incident was investigated at 120 Main Street by Trooper Carl Bisson at 6:48 p.m. No details were available.

 

Thursday, Sept. 18

No arrests were made.

• At 4:25 p.m. Trooper Robert Mangham reported that a 2002 Toyota Sienna was parked in the rear lot of the Deep River Elementary School when it received damage to its rear bumper. The suspect vehicle is elevated–an SUV or pick-up truck. Witnesses are asked to call Troup F at 860-399-2100.

 

Friday, Sept. 19

• An 84-year-old Chester man was arrested at 1:42 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension. He was released at 3 a.m. on a $250 cash bond pending an Oct. 1 court date.

• An assault at the Mount Saint John School for Boys was investigated by Trooper Christopher Cope at 10:02 a.m. No details were available.

 

Saturday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 21

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

Monday, Sept. 22

• A 20-year-old Niantic man was arrested at 3:16 a.m. and charged with possession of heroin, weapons in a motor vehicle, burglary in the third degree, criminal attempt to commit burglary in the third degree, and larceny by possession. Officer Raymond Sypher observed a motor vehicle parked at Calamari’s Scrap Yard. The accused was seen walking out of Dump Road back to his vehicle. A weapon was in plain view in the back seat. Heroin was found after a vehicle search. The accused was held on a $10,000 cash bond at the Middletown Superior Court lock-up pending court arraignment later that morning.   

 

Tuesday, Sept. 23

No arrests were made.

• A burglary at 119 Cedar Swamp Road was investigated by Trooper Christopher Cope at 2:19 p.m. No details were available.

 

 

 

Essex

 

Wednesday, Sept. 17

• A 46-year-old man of Walnut Street in Ivoryton was arrested at 2:22 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to obey a stop sign. The accused was driving northbound when he failed to stop and skidded through the stop sign at the intersection with Walnut Hill Road and struck a tree in front of #90 Walnut Street. He was released at 4:27 a.m. on a $500 non-surety bond pending a Sept. 30 court date after being transported to the Shoreline Clinic for treatment of minor injuries.

• A motor vehicle accident without injuries in front of 41 Main Street was investigated by Officer Salvatore Bevilacqua at 1:01 p.m. No details were available. 

 

Thursday, Sept. 18

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

Friday, Sept. 19

No arrests were made.

• A suspicious incident at 51 Main Street was investigated at 4:27 a.m. by Trooper Christopher Francis. No details were available.

 

Saturday, Sept. 20 to Tuesday, Sept. 23

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.
