activities, and police responses occurring in Clinton, Westbrook, and Old
Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the
report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.
Old Saybrook
Wednesday, Aug. 20
No arrests were
made.
• A 24-year-old
woman of Reed Court
was issued a citation at 5:35 p.m. for operating an unregistered motor vehicle
and driving without a license following a motor vehicle stop on Route 1 near
Route 154.
• A 28-year-old Clinton woman was issued
a citation at 6:07 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while using a hand-held
cell phone following a motor vehicle stop Route 1 near Lynde Street.

No arrests were
made.
• A 42-year-old Deep River man was issued a citation at 9:05 a.m. for
failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat and operating a motor vehicle
without a license following a motor vehicle stop on Route 1 at the Route 9
southbound exit ramp.
Friday, Aug. 22
• A 28-year-old man
of Church Street was arrested at 2:20 a.m. and charged with driving while under
the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, evading responsibility in the operation
of a motor vehicle following an accident in which there was property damage
and/or bodily injury, and failure to drive right following an accident on Route
1 near Route 154. He was processed and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and
was scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court on Sept. 8.
• A 25-year-old
Northford man was issued a citation at 8 a.m. for traveling unreasonably fast
and failure to renew registration following a motor vehicle stop on Main Street.
• A 35-year-old man
of Fenbrook Road
was issued a citation at 8 p.m. for failure to obey a stop sign at the
intersection of Maple Avenue
and Town Beach Road.

• A 42-year-old
Ivoryton man was issued a citation at 12:29 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle
without a license following a motor vehicle stop on Route 154 near I-95.
Monday, Aug. 25

• A 20-year-old man
of Ferry Road
was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:36 a.m. for traveling unreasonable speed
and operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension, following a motor
vehicle stop on Route 1 at Railroad
Bridge.
• A 25-year-old
Bridgeport woman was issued a citation at 3:55 p.m. driving without a license
following a motor vehicle stop on Old Boston Post Road near Trask Road.
• A 61-year-old
Guilford man was issued a citation at 5:35 p.m. for failure to obey a control
signal at the intersection of Route 1 and Old Boston Post Road.

From Aug. 20 to 26,
Old Saybrook police issued the following individual citations to motorists: 10
citations for using a hand-held cell phone while driving, 8 citation for
failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat, and 5 citations for traveling
unreasonably fast.
Clinton
Wednesday, Aug. 20
• A 55-year-old man
of Brickyard Road was arrested at 10:15 p.m. for driving a motor vehicle while
under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on
Route 1.
• An intoxicated
person on Alden Drive who required medical transport was reported at 4:23 p.m.
No details were available.
Thursday, Aug. 21
• A 41-year-old
Waterbury man was arrested at 12:33 a.m. and charged with driving while under
the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane
of a multiple-lane highway following a motor vehicle stop on Glenwood Road near
Liberty Street.
• A 31-year-old man
of River Road was arrested at 9:18 a.m. on warrant charging him with larceny in
the fourth degree, larceny in the first degree, two counts of identity theft in
the third degree, and two counts of illegal use of credit card.
• A pistol permit
and background investigation were administered at police headquarters at 7:17
a.m.
• An animal bite was
reported on Killingworth Turnpike at 2:07 p.m.
• A welfare concern
was investigated on Old Nod Road at 7:03 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 22
• A 38-year-old East
Haven woman was arrested at 10:08 p.m. and charged with driving while under the
influence of alcohol and/or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on
Killingworth Turnpike.
• A fall on Park
Drive reported at 9:24 a.m. required medical transport.
• A larceny was
investigated on Robin Lane at 1:58 p.m.
• A larceny was
investigated on Liberty Place at 2:52 p.m.
• Harassment was reported
on Cow Hill Road at 6:06 p.m.
• Between 4:45 and
10:50 p.m., police issued six verbal warnings, three written warnings, and five
citations to motorists on Nod Road, Martin Drive, West Main Street, High
Street, North High Street, and Hull Street.
Saturday, Aug. 23
• A 19-year-old man
of Merrill Road was arrested at 7:30 p.m. on a warrant charging him with
failure to pay or plead a misdemeanor summons.
• A motor vehicle
accident (rescue with injuries) on Old Nod Road was investigated at 10:03 a.m. No
details were available.
• Between 7:36 and
9:59 p.m., police issued 1 verbal warning, 11 written warnings, and 2 citations
to motorists on Nod Road, East and West Main Streets, Liberty Street, Hull
Street, and High Street.

• Criminal mischief
on Meadow Road was investigated at 10:35 a.m.
• A sex offender
registration was investigated at police headquarters at 11:34 a.m.
• Between 12:53 and
9:05 a.m., police issued five written warnings and one citation to motorists on
Cow Hill Road, East Main Street, and Old Mill Road.

• Harassment was
reported on Elmwood Way at 11:36 a.m.
• A motor vehicle
accident (without injuries) was investigated on Central Avenue near High Street
at 3:31 p.m. No details were available.
• Criminal mischief
on Glenwood Road was investigated at 7:24 p.m.
• Between 3:29 and
6:22 a.m., police issued four written warnings to motorists on East Main Street
and Killingworth Turnpike.
Westbrook
Wednesday, Aug. 20
• A 33-year-old
Madison man was arrested at 7:53 p.m. and charged with driving while under the
influence of alcohol and/or drugs, drinking while driving, and reckless
endangerment. One of two troopers standing on the side of the road conducting
motor vehicle enforcements reported being nearly struck by the arrestee as he
came upon them in his vehicle and accelerated quickly; the driver allegedly
smiled at the trooper as he passed within two feet. The trooper apprehended the
driver who then failed a field sobriety test.
• At 8:49 p.m.
Trooper Robert Hart reported that a 2007 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle driven by a
20-year-old man of Muller Drive went out of control and collided with a gate
when the driver exited the Westbrook town beach parking lot at a “high rate of
speed.” The driver was wearing a helmet. He was transported to Yale-New Haven
Hospital for evaluation. No enforcement action was indicated.
• At 9:20 p.m.
Trooper Thomas Inglis reported that a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria driven by a
67-year-old man of Boston Post Road backed into a 2002 Dodge Ram truck driven
by a 50-year-old man of unrecorded address. The accident occurred at the
Westbrook town beach parking lot located at 406 Seaside Avenue. No injuries
were reported and no enforcement action was indicated.
Thursday, Aug. 21
• A 19-year-old
Branford man was arrested at 12:58 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure
to appear in the second degree. He was released on bond and issued a court date
at New Haven Superior Court on Sept. 3.
Friday, Aug. 22
No arrests were
made.
• At 11:57 a.m.
Trooper Robert Lanouette investigated a residential burglary at 7 Christina
Lane. The incident was reported after the homeowner returned from vacation to
find her home had been burglarized. Anyone with information about the incident
is asked to call State Police at 860-399-2100.
Saturday, Aug. 23
No arrests were made
and no incidents were reported.
Sunday, Aug. 24
• A 27-year-old man
of Boston Post Road was arrested at 3:11 a.m. and charged with driving while
under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and evading responsibility in the
operation of a motor vehicle following an accident in which there was property
damage and/or bodily injury. The accused was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pick-up
truck when he struck SNET pole #291 on Boston Post Road at Sagamore Terrace and
then attempted to leave the scene by driving the damaged vehicle to his home.
• A 34-year-old man
of New York City was arrested at 9:58 p.m. and charged with driving while under
the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and reckless driving after he failed to
stop when signaled by the trooper who witnessed the vehicle operating
erratically. The arrestee was held in lieu of a $10,000 surety bond pending court
arraignment on the following day.

No arrests were made

Tuesday, Aug. 26
• A 40-year-old
Guilford man was arrested at 9 p.m. at the Hospital of Saint Raphael on two
warrants (one held by Troop F and the other by Milford police) each charging
him with failure to appear. He was held in lieu of two $15,000 surety bonds
pending court arraignment on the following day.
