Guilford Fair Announces
Writing Contest Just for Kids
We know that milk
comes from cows not cartons and that corn grows on a cob not in the freezer,
but where does that cob come from? How far does that milk travel to get to your
morning cereal?
The Guilford
Agricultural Society thinks Connecticut’s
kids know the answer to the question “Where Does My Food Come From?” and we’d
like to hear from them.
The Guilford
Agricultural Society, producers of the Guilford Fair Sept. 19 through 21, in
conjunction with media sponsor the Guilford Courier are giving kids a chance to
share their knowledge of where their food comes from in Connecticut. Winners in three categories
will read their stories on the main stage at the fair.
Winners in three
categories will receive age-appropriate awards and win family four-packs of
tickets to the fair, which started in 1859. They’ll also have their work shown
at www.guilfordcourier.com for worldwide publication. All entrants will receive
a ribbon and certificate of participation. Judges may provide additional awards
depending on the level of participation.
